Scholarship Information Amount: The Wisconsin Berry Growers Association (WBGA) will award a $500 scholarship for post secondary study. Eligibility: Competition for the scholarship is open to all WBGA members, family members, grandchildren and WBGA member employees who have completed a minimum of one year of post-secondary education in college, vocational school or technical school. The scholarship may be applied toward a two or four-year degree program. A horticulture major is preferred but any agriculture, plant or soil science degree would be accepted. Applicants planning study in the field of horticulture will receive priority consideration. If there are no applicants from Association member, family member, grandchildren, or member's employees, the scholarship will be opened to other students who fulfill the above requirements. Application Procedure and Deadline: Applicants must submit a completed WBGA Scholarship Application Form; an attached 500-word original, typed essay (on an 8 1/2" x 11' plain white paper) that is related to the small fruit industry in Wisconsin; and a current transcript from the last school the applicant attended. Applications may be downloaded from our website or obtained from Anna Maenner at the WBGA office and must be returned to that office no later than May 15, 2008. Award Notification : The winner will be notified prior to June 1 and publicly announced at the WBGA Field Day. A check for $500 will be issued jointly to the winning applicant and the educational institution of his or her choice. The decision of the Judges will be final.
